About William R. Sudela

William R. Sudela joined CJMH in 1982. Board Certified in Commercial and Residential Real Estate Law, Bill’s practice initially focused on the representation of buyers, sellers, lenders, landlords, and tenants, in both commercial and residential transactions.

While continuing his real estate practice, Bill combined his oil and gas background with his experience working for Brown and Root. He began representing construction trades and service companies in the oil patch, including extensive work perfecting and enforcing bond and lien claims in both the construction sector and the oil and gas industry, assisting in the recovery of millions of dollars that would have otherwise been non-recoverable.

The emphasis of Bill’s practice now focuses on disputes encountered by construction trades and oilfield service providers, while continuing his bond and lien claim work.

Bill has served on the Board of Directors of the State Construction Law Section of the State Bar Association and as the President of the Construction Law Section of the Houston Bar Association. For the past 20+ years, Bill has served as the General Counsel of the Houston Chapter of the American Subcontractors Association.

Bill’s clients appreciate the fact that Bill does not know the meaning of “after hours,” and that he is accessible even on weekends and while on vacation. Bill feels that the most important service he provides to his clients is the ability to provide creative legal solutions beyond those found in the textbook.

Prior to practicing law, Bill graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA from Lamar University in 1975. He then worked as a Mathematician and Computer Programmer for Texaco. After making the choice to attend law school, he did so at night while working during the day for Texaco, and then for Brown and Root, a Texas-based international construction company. Bill earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston in 1982.

Although Bill works late hours, he cherishes every moment he spends with his wife and life partner. Every chance they get, Bill and his high school sweetheart spend time at their condo in Galveston enjoying the breeze and the views of the Gulf Coast and the Bay.
