About Jay Houren

Jay R. Houren joined CJMH in 1986 after working as a tax consultant for a national accounting firm. Jay focuses his practice on tax planning, estate planning, business mergers, sales and acquisitions, and general business representation. He is licensed to practice in the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

Prior to earning his Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law, Jay received his BBA in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, Jay is a Certified Public Accountant and Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. 

Jay often speaks on taxation issues at seminars sponsored by the following organizations:

  • Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants
  • Houston Chapter of Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants
  • Crady Jewett McCulley & Houren LLP

Clients rely on Jay’s technical expertise, creativity, and ability to help them reach their business planning goals. When he is not in the office, Jay continues to serve the community as a board member and the co-vice chair of the Harris County Hospital District Foundation.
